Energy Efficiency Tips From Michael Dell
CIO.com recently published a summary of the Dell-CIO IT Energy Efficiency Summit in Washington D.C.  In a one-on-one conversation with Gary Beach, Michael Dell offers several tips for business leaders looking to increase the energy efficiency of their operations and data centers.  Among the recommendations Dell offers is the importance of getting CEOs directly engaged in setting the strategy and holding procurement partners and suppliers to high standards. He also stresses that a commitment to energy conservation is long-term one, not an undertaking for just one quarter or fiscal year.  Thanks to Environmental Leader for posting a good and succinct summary of the conversation.

Seattle Business Lays the Foundation for a Human-Powered Gym
Here’s yet another forehead-slapping, “why didn’t I think of that?” item blogged about by The Alternative Consumer and Inhabitat.  Taking their queue from a similar establishment in Hong Kong, a micro-gym in Seattle called Total Body Turnaround aims to use the energy expelled by their stationary bike users as well as solar energy to actually power the gym itself.  Simultaneously, keeping fit and powering a gym is some green multitasking the ReGeneration team can definitely get behind.

UK Study Finds Women Are Greener Drivers Than Men
A study published by the Environmental Transport Association and blogged about by EcoStreet found that by a margin of 10 percentage points, women are more concerned than men about curbing their automobile emissions.  Offering an explanation for the study results, spokesperson for the ETA, Yannick Read, said, “Women find it easier to reduce their reliance on cars possibly because they are more open minded about the alternatives to driving - they appear generally more optimistic than men about the changes they can make to the environment.”

Tips for a Greener Spring Cleaning
The folks at Got2BeGreen have blogged some very helpful and timely tips for greening up your spring cleaning routine this year.  Their cleaning tips run the gamut, with advice about cleaning metal surfaces, wood floors, stains, bathroom mold and shower drains, just to name a few.

Reducing Waste at the Grocery Store
We blogged earlier this month about Whole Foods’ recent decision to stop offering plastic bags as a bagging option for their customers.  As a follow-up, we offer you an excellent list from Real Simple with even more suggestions on lessening the environmental impact of your trips to the grocery store.  The list offers advice on what kinds of products to look for and the least wasteful packaging options offered at grocery stores.  Special thanks Greenthinkers for letting us know about these tips.

Thanks for sharing what green means to you!
