The Register’s Green Computing Debate
In case you missed it, the audio from the energy-efficiency session of The Register’s “green” computing debate is now available online. Dell’s Albert Esser led the session and spoke about the benefits of virtualization, sound power management and a comprehensive approach that includes component, operational and enterprise-level optimization to improve energy efficiency and address power, cooling and space issues.
Other participants in last week’s debate included Intel’s Kevin O’Donovan, VMWare’s Winston Bumpus, Freeform Dynamics’ Dale Vile and Computer Aid International’s Louise Richards. Presentations covered topics ranging from energy efficiency, to virtualization, to recycling and companies’ overall approach to environmental responsibility.
Following the debate, the speakers participated in a roundtable discussion and answered questions about technological innovations around energy and the role of business in protecting the environment.
These topics will continue to be a focus here at ReGeneration.org, so feel free to share your thoughts and observations.
